As an HR professional, you know how to protect your company and its employees. But do you know how to protect yourself?

Join us for a webinar with Scott Oswald, an accomplished employment lawyer who will discuss negative job actions taken against HR professionals by walking us through the real-life case of a SHRM member who was fired.

HR professional Jeffrey Naftal was terminated after he recommended disciplining an employee according to company policy — but against his CEO’s wishes. Scott and his team at The Employment Law Group litigated the case and won a $312,000 jury verdict on Jeff’s behalf. After an appeal, a second trial is now pending.

Scott, himself a SHRM member, will recap the case; will provide advice on handling conflict with superiors; and will talk about how to maximize your legal options in a worst-case scenario like Jeff’s.

Scott Oswald, managing principal at The Employment Law Group, is an accomplished trial lawyer who has brought 40+ trials to verdict and recovered more than $300 million for his clients, in cases ranging from wrongful termination to employer fraud. Mr. Oswald litigates employment lawsuits nationwide, with a focus on whistleblower matters. He has spoken up for workers before federal agencies and on Capitol Hill and has broken new ground in whistleblower law. Mr. Oswald is also a member of SHRM.

This will be a virtual session held via Zoom.  Email Wendy Button by midnight on Friday, May 24th to register.  The cost is $13 for chapter members and $15 for guests.
