    Boss & Hunky: The Adventures of an Out-of-Work Gargoyle

    NOTE:  THIS PRESENTATION IS 75 MINUTES & WILL END APPROX. 9:15AM

    Imagine having the same job your entire working life and it is unexpectedly ripped (literally) away. You feel too old to have to begin again, yet too young to retire.  Ms. Mower utilizes analogies from her book which tells the story of two Gargoyles who suddenly find themselves without employment and begins with the “first tentative steps” they must take to find their place in the new world.  The lecture part of the program covers recruitment tips, from writing employment ads to attract non-traditional candidates, including people with disabilities, as well as other overlooked candidate sources to explore.  The interactive part of the program allows the audience to break off into groups of four to explore specific characters in the book so they may recognize their own workstyles: the gnome, the fairy, the angel, and the turtle.  The exercise includes solving a work-related problem and reporting back to the larger audience.  During the gargoyles’ journey, they encounter many personalities that we find in the workplace every day! This fresh take on the concept of work styles will not only educate the audience but keep the audience thoroughly engaged!

    Meeting Details

    • 7:00-7:30am - check-in and networking

    • 7:30-8:00am - breakfast, general meeting 

    • 8:00-approx. 9:15am - presentation

    • Cost is $18 for members and $25 for guests.  Breakfast is included.

    • Check made payable to SHRM Berks Chapter is preferred by cash is also accepted.  Can pay at meeting or mail check to PO Box 55, Temple PA 19560. Email Wendy Button for online credit card payment option.

    • Pre-registration of members and guests is required by emailing Wendy Button by midnight April 6th.

    • Cancelations of registrations must be received by midnight April 6th to avoid invoice for fee.

    • Members registering guests must be in attendance at meeting.

    • Berkshire Country Club is business casual dress code.  No jeans or shorts, please.
