    Session 3

    Unconscious Bias

Unconscious bias or implicit bias is an association or attitude that resides deep in our subconscious and operates beyond our control and awareness. Bias is a preference for or aversion to a person or group of people and affects our understanding, actions and decisions in an unconscious manner. It often creates quick and inaccurate judgment based on limited facts and our own life experiences. It can have an impact on how we see individual talents and motivations and can determine how we interact and place value. When we begin understanding how biases influence our behavior, e can act to increase our awareness and limit the impact on our thoughts and behaviors. This interactive presentation will help HR professionals gain an awareness of their unconscious bias and expose them to strategies and techniques that allow them to explore their own biases. Approaching one's own biases in an informed and open way reduced the impact of bias in the workplace.
    1. Understand and recognize their unconscious bias
    2. Engage employees more effectively
    3. Understand how biases impact people in different ways
    4. Approach their HR responsibilities with more awareness of the impact of bias
    5. Learn strategies and techniques for continued learning
