Bridging Education & Workforce Development –

    The Pathway to Financial Stability

The PA 529 College and Career Savings Plan is an account to pay for k-12 tuition, college, trade/vocation schools, apprenticeships and student loans. Advantages of using a 529 plan for education savings include tax benefits, low maintenance, high contribution limits, favorable financial aid treatment, and flexibility.

The Pennsylvania ABLE Savings Program (PA ABLE) is a tax-advantaged savings plan for individuals with qualifying disabilities and their families. It allows for tax-free savings and investments for disability-related expenses without impacting eligibility for government benefits like Medicaid and SSI.

Berks Countians have more than $68.7 million in unclaimed property that the Treasury is looking to return. One of Treasurer Stacy Garrity’s top priorities is to return unclaimed property to Pennsylvanians in every corner of the commonwealth.  That money belongs to the hardworking taxpayers, businesses, and non-profits. Every dollar can make a huge difference right now.

During my presentation, the audience will join me in an engaging discussion regarding workforce development initiatives in Berks County and strategies to overcome challenges. We will review current employment data/trends in the county. I will highlight the structure of each program, detailing how PA Treasury’s employee benefits offerings are helping companies recruit/retain high-level talent.

Speaker:  Larry Booker, Regional Program Relationship Manager, PA Dept of Treasury

Prior to joining Treasury, Larry was a supervisor at the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) managing Guarantor/Insurer Relations representatives.
